The Department of Geriatrics of the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College is featured with patient-centered service and multidisciplinary integration. We engaged in comprehensive clinical discipline that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, scientific research, teaching, rehabilitation and health guidance of senile diseases.
Considering that the elderly have the characteristics of multiple diseases, complications, atypical clinical symptoms, slow onset, organ function decline and long-term use of a variety of drugs, we concentrate on both the general and major diseases in regard to diagnosis. In terms of the treatment, we not only focus on the integration of treatment plans of various disciplines, but make great efforts to solve the main problems. As for the medication, we take into account the physical and pathological characteristics of the elderly, striving for a meticulous, reasonable and scientific medication for senile diseases.
Our work area is divided into three parts: outpatient department, inpatient department and auxiliary examination, all with perfect facilities. The department has 68 beds, including intensive care units and double-room wards, which provide a quiet, clean and comfortable environment. There are 15 doctors, including 2 postdoctoral fellows from the United States, 10 masters, 2 graduate supervisors, 5 with senior professional titles, 10 with intermediate professional titles, and 22 nursing staffs.
Scope of service: Take appropriate and effective protective measures to delay the progress of aging, and also provide patients with the guidance of disease prevention, health care, nursing and rehabilitation; Mainly diagnose and treat elderly nervous system diseases, elderly cardiovascular diseases, elderly endocrine diseases, elderly digestive system diseases, elderly osteoarticular diseases, elderly immune system diseases, elderly respiratory diseases and various acute and chronic syndromes of elderly multi-organ damage, senile dementia, cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral arteriosclerosis, headache, dizziness, senile anxiety and depression, insomnia, various types of sleep disorders, refractory hypertension, hypertensive heart disease, coronary heart disease, acute coronary syndrome, acute and chronic cardiac insufficiency and arrhythmia caused by various reasons, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, pulmonary heart disease, various pulmonary infections, senile diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, osteoporosis, elderly gastrointestinal diseases, elderly constipation, senile osteoarthritis, cervical and lumbar disc herniation and other diseases of comprehensive diagnosis and treatment as the main direction, especially suitable for elderly patients with three or more chronic diseases at the same time.
Medical equipment: The department of geriatrics has complete diagnostic and treatment equipment. At present, there are sleep diagnosis and treatment related equipment mainly for abnormal intracranial discharge, insomnia, sleep apnea syndrome (snoring, dreaming) and so on; ultra-slow EEG fluctuation chart instrument (used for brain function and neurochemical media level detection, detection of the level of neurotransmitters in patients); ventilator (used for various reasons caused by acute respiratory failure, improve ventilation, reduce respiratory power consumption determines the mechanical ventilation can be used to improve the pathophysiological state, etc.); transcranial Doppler diagnostic instrument (used for the diagnosis of intracranial and extracranial vascular lesions) electrocardiogram machine, dynamic blood pressure detector, dynamic ECG monitor (for hypertension, coronary heart disease, provide palpitations patients with better examination and treatment); extracorporeal vibration sputum machine, etc. In addition, the department will purchase a plant nerve function detector, infrared therapeutic instrument, cerebellar electrical stimulation instrument, medium frequency therapeutic instrument, ultrasound therapeutic instrument, etc.
